Law Number 5 of 1994 on the Ratification of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity
- In order to preserve biodiversity, utilize each of its elements sustainably, and enhance international cooperation in the fields of science and technology for the benefit of present and future generations, the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from June 3 to 14, 1992, resulted in an international commitment with the signing of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity by a large number of countries worldwide, including Indonesia, which is rich in biodiversity. Based on the above considerations, the Government of Indonesia finds it necessary to ratify the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity through this Law.
- The legal basis of this Law is: the 1945 Constitution Article 5 paragraph (1), Article 11, Article 20 paragraph (1).
- This Law regulates: the ratification of the Biodiversity Convention with the original text in English and its translation in Indonesian attached and forming an integral part of this Law.
