Indigenous Peoples and Local Community Conserved Territories and Areas - May 2026 Edition

As of May 2026, the total area of the National ICCAs Registration reaches 1,010,430.68 hectares with a distribution of 527 ICCAs points managed by 192 Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities. WGII also identifies ICCA Potential using the approach of 3 (three) ICCAs characteristics (relationship, governance, and contribution value to biodiversity) through spatial analysis of participatory maps of Indigenous Territories and People's Management Areas covering 29.54 million hectares indicated as ICCAs.
